Electrical Engineer - Newport, TN
Newport Utilities, a municipal electric, water, and wastewater system, located in East Tennessee, is seeking an electrical engineer.
Work Description – to research and design electric utility system facilities using complex computations and problem solving skills, detailed sketching, drafting, and computer systems. Furnishes technical assistance to other departments, contractors, and customers relative to electric, water and wastewater systems. Makes recommendations on methods of systems improvements, developing engineering and labor costs, equipment and material costs, and effects on system design to support recommendations. Prepares costs estimates, bid documents, plans and specifications, and manages major construction and maintenance projects.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelors’ degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university, strong analytical and time management skills, strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and team skills; proficiency with CADD and personal computer skills, ability to work independently on projects in a timely manner, ability to direct the work of others, valid Tennessee driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years experience in electrical engineering, preferably with utilities; experience in electric design, plans review, and master planning; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner, strong personal computer skills, including CADD, Milsoft WindMil, spreadsheet reporting, word processing, presentations, and project management software.
