Wastewater Service - Class A Bio Fertilizer

The Newport Utilities is is generator of residuals/biosolids from its treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater. The residuals is turned into a Class A biosolids through an indirect drying process, generating a greater than 90% dry solids, which is sold to local farmers as fertilizer. Since the biosolids are Class A they meet all local, state and federal regulatory requirements. A copy of the nutrients analysis of the biosolids is available at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The average nitrogen value of the biosolids runs between 5 and 8% total nitrogen.
