10/4/2024 Updates:
- Water Conservation Alert has officially been lifted. Customers are no longer required to conserve water.
- Boil Water Alert: The Boil Water Alert has been lifted for residents inside Newport City Limits. (2:30 PM)
- All other customers are still under the Boil Water Alert until further notice.
- Water Restoration: Service has been restored to 99% of our customers, as of 10:15 a.m.
- If you remain without water, please have patience as the water is making its way to you- this is not an instantaneous process.
- Electric Outages: Total current outages stand at 18, as of 10:15 a.m.
HURRICANE HELENE OUTAGE UPDATES- HISTORY
- 9/27 | 4:10 PM: ALL NU WATER CUSTOMERS – PLEASE REDUCE WATER USAGE IF POSSIBLE. Limit all water usage to absolute necessity.
- 9/27 | 6:00 PM: WATERVILLE DAM UPDATE- Duke Energy has stated that the Dam did not fail. Waters could potentially continue to rise for the next 24-36 hours. There is still a mandatory evacuation order in place for residents near the water.
- The NU lobby is closed as of 9/27 at 3:30 PM due to evacuation.
- POWER OUTAGES | Please refer to Outage Map
- 9/27 | 3:00 PM: Eastport through Highway 73 power is being de-energized while crews navigate the flooding to repair poles. Current customer outages total 877.
- 10:45 AM: Crews worked overnight to get the total outage number down from approx. 4,300 to a current total of 800 customers out.
- 7:00 PM: Current outages total 439.
- 9/30 | 4:45 PM: Current outages total 32.
- WATER OUTAGES |
Locations:Denton Rd through Hartford; Big Creek through Cabbage County Road; Cove Hollow Road (restored) will be without water while repairs are being made.- 9/27 | 9:35 PM: Continually rising waters have now caused Newport and Bybee to be without water.
- 9/28 | 8:00 AM: Many customers remain without water due to inaccessible repairs. Stay tuned for more information as we have it.
- Customers who have power but no water are advised to turn off the breaker for their electric water heater (if they have one at the residence).
