Water Main Flushing

Water Main Flushing is a necessary function for NU’s Waterline Maintenance Program, which
maintains the system’s overall water quality.

Although water will remain safe during this process,
customers may encounter the following conditions during flushing:

• A temporary drop in water pressure to your residence or place of business

• Rusty, brown, or cloudy water. These conditions will subside after flushing is complete.

• Tip: Avoid doing laundry during flushing operations to avoid possible staining.

After flushing operation is complete:

Open a cold-water facet and let water flow until clear. When available, use an outside spigot.
